iPhones only accept ringtones up to 40 seconds long - the dashed amber line on the waveform marks that limit, and your selection can never run past it. One honest limitation: browsers cannot encode M4R, so export MP3 here and convert it to M4R in the iTunes / Music app (or Finder) to sync it to your iPhone.

How it works
The Ringtone Maker trims any song into a phone-ready clip with one hard rule baked in: iPhones accept ringtones of at most 40 seconds. The visual waveform editor shows a dashed amber guide at exactly 40 seconds from your start point, and the selection is clamped there - you literally cannot overshoot. A 2-second smooth fade-out is applied automatically so the clip ends gracefully instead of chopping off mid-note.
One honest limitation to know about: no website can hand you an M4R file without uploading your audio to a server, because browsers cannot encode AAC/M4R locally. So this tool exports MP3 (or WAV) - convert it to M4R in the iTunes / Music app or Finder, sync it to your iPhone, and it appears under Settings > Sounds. Android users can use the MP3 directly.
Like every tool here it is 100% client-side: the waveform editor, the trim and the fade all run in your browser tab, so your music never leaves your device and nothing is uploaded anywhere.
Frequently asked questions
Why is there a 40-second limit?
That is Apple's rule, not ours: iPhones refuse ringtones longer than 40 seconds. The dashed amber line on the waveform shows exactly where the limit falls from your start point, and the tool will not let your selection run past it. Android phones have no such limit, but staying under 40 seconds keeps the clip phone-friendly everywhere.
Can I export M4R directly?
No - and be wary of any site that claims otherwise without uploading. Browsers cannot encode AAC/M4R client-side: there is no in-browser M4R encoder. Export MP3 here, then convert it to M4R in the iTunes / Music app (or Finder on newer macOS) and sync it to your iPhone as a ringtone.
Why does the clip fade out at the end?
A 2-second smooth fade-out is applied automatically so the ringtone never ends on a harsh chop - abrupt endings sound broken on a phone speaker. The fade is part of the clip and cannot be turned off.
Is there a file size limit? Is it private?
Files up to 100MB are supported. Trimming and the fade run entirely in your browser - your music never leaves your device.
