How it works
Reverb is the sound of a space. This tool uses convolution reverb: it generates an impulse response - a synthetic recording of how a room of a given size reflects sound - and blends it with your audio through a ConvolverNode. The result is far more natural than simple echo or delay, from a tiled bathroom slap to a soaring cathedral tail.
You control three things: decay time (how long the tail rings, 0.2 to 5 seconds), wet/dry mix (how much effect versus original signal), and pre-delay (a gap before the reverb starts, which keeps fast material intelligible). The seven room buttons dial in classic starting points you can then fine-tune.
It is a real-time effect on a Web Audio graph, so you hear every tweak instantly. And like all our tools it is 100% client-side: the impulse is synthesized in your browser and your files never leave your device.
Frequently asked questions
What is convolution reverb?
Convolution reverb works by "playing" your audio inside a simulated space: an impulse response (the recorded echo fingerprint of a real room) is mathematically combined with your sound. It is the most realistic-sounding reverb type, and it runs in real time here.
What does pre-delay do?
Pre-delay is a short gap (in milliseconds) between the dry sound and the start of the reverb. A little pre-delay (20-40 ms) keeps vocals and drums punchy and clear while still adding spaciousness.
How do wet/dry mix and decay interact?
Decay sets how long the reverb tail lasts; mix sets how loud the reverb is compared to the original. Long decay with low mix gives subtle depth; short decay with high mix gives an obvious effect.
Is there a file size limit? Is it private?
Files up to 100MB are supported. The impulse responses are generated locally and everything runs in your browser - your audio never leaves your device.
