How it works
8D audio is the viral illusion of music circling around your head. Technically it is beautifully simple: a low-frequency oscillator (LFO) continuously sweeps a stereo panner from left to right and back, while a touch of convolution reverb sells the sense of a physical space the sound is moving through.
You control the rotation speed (0.05 to 1 Hz - one full orbit every 1 to 20 seconds) and how much reverb feeds the illusion. Because it is a real-time Web Audio effect, you hear the rotation the moment you press play, and you can tune it live.
Everything is generated and processed client-side in your browser: the panning LFO, the reverb impulse and your audio never leave your device, and nothing is uploaded anywhere.
