How aggressively diffuse tail energy is suppressed. Start at 50% β higher settings dry the sound further but can make voices sound gated and unnatural.

How it works
The Reverb Remover dries up roomy, echoey recordings using a classical dereverberation trick: transient emphasis. Two envelopes track your audio β a fast one that follows attacks and a slow one that follows the lingering room tail β and wherever the tail dominates, the gain is pulled down. The result is a tighter, closer, more "recorded in a good room" sound.
Honesty first: this is an approximation. It excels at taming light room ambience on voice, and it cannot un-bake a cathedral. Heavy reverb is woven into the direct sound itself; the best any envelope-based method can do is suppress the decay between sounds, which at high strength starts to sound gated. Start at 50% and nudge while previewing.
The whole chain β envelope tracking, gain smoothing, safety clamping β runs on decoded samples inside your browser tab. Nothing is uploaded anywhere.
Frequently asked questions
How does dereverb work?
It is a transient emphasizer: the DSP compares a fast envelope (attacks) against a slow envelope (room tails) and turns down the moments where the tail dominates. Think of it as an automatic fader riding the decay of every sound β classical, transparent math.
Will it fully remove heavy reverb?
Honestly, no. Light room ambience cleans up nicely, but heavy baked-in reverb β cathedral tails, big plate on a vocal β is fused with the direct sound and cannot be separated by envelope tricks. At best it gets drier and tighter; at worst it sounds gated. Treat aggressive settings as a rescue tool, not magic.
What recordings does it help most?
Voice notes recorded in echoey rooms, podcasts with room tone, and drums with too much room mic. It struggles with dense music mixes where "reverb" and "sustain" are the same thing.
Is there a file size limit? Is it private?
Files up to 100MB are supported. Dereverberation runs entirely in your browser β your audio never leaves your device.
